Online Volleyball Scoreboard

Volleyball uses rally scoring: a point goes to whichever team wins each rally, no matter who served. Indoor sets are played to 25 points and must be won by 2, and a deciding fifth set goes to 15. ScoreBoard's free online volleyball scoreboard counts points with one tap and flags the set winner for you.

How to keep score for volleyball online

  1. Open the volleyball scoreboard. The Volleyball preset is already selected.
  2. Name the teams or players (2 to 12) and pick their colors, then tap Create Game.
  3. Tap a team’s card or its point buttons to add points. On a keyboard, press 1, 2 or 3 to score for that team and Shift + the number to undo.
  4. Open the gear menu for fullscreen and XL score size, or tap Share to get a 6-character code others can join at thescorekeeper.app/app/join.
  • Tap the team that won the rally, not the team that served.
  • Press Next Round when a set ends. ScoreBoard banks the set win and resets both scores to 0.
  • Share the game code so a second scorer or the bench can follow the score live on their phone.

Volleyball scoreboard FAQ

How does volleyball scoring work?

Volleyball uses rally scoring, so every rally ends with a point for the team that won it, whether or not they served. A team that wins a rally on the opponent's serve also gets the next serve. Indoor sets go to 25 and must be won by 2 points.

How many points are in a volleyball set?

Indoor volleyball sets are played to 25 points, win by 2. The fifth, deciding set is played to 15, also win by 2. Beach volleyball sets go to 21, with a third set to 15.

Is there a point cap in volleyball?

Official FIVB indoor rules have no cap: a set continues until one team leads by 2. Some recreational leagues cap sets at 27 or 30 to keep games on schedule. ScoreBoard's preset uses a 30-point cap.

Can I use this volleyball scoreboard on a tablet or TV?

Yes. ScoreBoard runs in any browser, so you can open it on an iPad, laptop or a TV browser, switch to fullscreen and set the score size to XL so players can read it from the court.
